Ultra Petroleum Corp. announced this week it has signed a purchase and sale agreement to acquire approximately 80,000 (net) acres in the Pennsylvania Marcellus Shale, from a private company at a cost of $400 million.

* Seneca Resources Announces 10 Million Cubic Feet Of Natural Gas Flow Each Day
Seneca Resources Corporation announced this week its third Seneca-operated horizontal Marcellus Shale well flowed at an initial 24-hour rate of over 10 million cubic feet per day (“Mmcfd”) and averaged 9.5 Mmcfd over seven days.

* WREN Grant Funding Available For 2010-2011 Watershed Education Projects
The Water Resources Education Network invites partnerships of local or regional organizations, such as watershed associations, civic groups, community water systems, governmental entities and other public interest organizations, to apply for watershed education grants.

Nearly 117,000 PPL Electric Utilities customers have already selected a competitive electricity supplier for the power they will need in 2010.

* State Awards $5 Million To Biogas Projects
The Department of Environmental Protection announced $5 million in federal recovery money was awarded to eight alternative energy projects that use biological materials such as sewage, animal and food processing waste to generate enough energy to power more than 80,000 homes.
