During its online Annual Conference July 29, the PA Association of Conservation Districts recognized the conservation work of 11 individuals and districts.

On August 2, the PA Environmental Defense Foundation filed a petition in Commonwealth Court asking for the return of $1.3 billion in state forest drilling revenue to DCNR’s Oil and Gas Lease Fund in compliance with a PA Supreme Court decision on July 21.

On August 5, Rep. David Zimmerman (R-Lancaster) introduced House Bill 1755 which would take away all Department of Environmental Protection permit application fees collected by the agency and deposit them into the General Fund rather than into the accounts now set up in law to pay for specific environmental protection programs.

The House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee is scheduled to hold a hearing August 17 on the “environmental and economic benefits of pipelines.”
