Jordan Creek Stream Restoration Update Oct. 9 In Allentown, Check Out Other Events

The Wildlands Conservancy will host an update on the Jordan Creek stream restoration project on October 9 at the Jordan Creek Park, adjacent to 1201 N. 6th St. in Allentown starting at 5:00.

The Conservancy is continuing plans to restore Allentown’s Jordan Creek to its natural state. Like the neighboring Trout Creek that Wildlands rescued in 2011, Jordan Creek is designated as impaired by the Department of Environmental Protection.

The restoration efforts are focused on a .75-mile stretch that is highly channelized with long expanses of stone walls and a series of dams.  Pre-project monitoring verified poor water quality and habitat conditions in connection with these man-made structures and nonpoint source pollution.

Engineering and permitting phases were completed in 2011 and the next step of stream restoration and dam removal will commence in summer 2013.

Join the Conservancy for an update on this important stream restoration project, view our dam-removal progress and understand the scope of work to be completed.
