House: the Consumer Protection Committee meets to consider House Bill 20 (McCall-D-Carbon) phasing in electric rate increases; the Urban Affairs Committee meets to consider House Bill 712 (J.Taylor-R-Philadelphia) creating land banks for the conversion of vacant or tax-delinquent properties into productive use.

Senate: the Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure meets to consider the nomination of Robert F. Powelson as a member of the Public Utility Commission, the Appropriations Committee meets to consider Senate Bill 45 (Greenleaf-R-Montgomery) further providing continuing education requirements for Landscape Architects, Senate Bill 115 (MJ White-R-Venango) requiring publication of changes to the State Air Quality Implementation Plan, Senate Bill 116 (MJ White) requiring additional reporting for DEP special funds, Senate Bill 117 (MJ White) requiring additional reporting for expenditures from the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund, Senate Bill 118 (MJ White) providing for the deposit of penalties into the Hazardous Sites Cleanup Fund, Senate Bill 275 (D.White-R-Indiana) establishing the Coal Methane Review Board.

Bills Introduced

This bill of interest was introduced this week--

Pesticide Testing: House Bill 1261(Cohen-D-Philadelphia) amending the PA Pesticide Control Act to require testing of pesticides to prevent the occurrence of food-related illnesses in both humans and animals.
